So You Want to Be an Essayist

Last week I was talking with my boss, who is a writer himself, and I asked him if he wrote every day. He said that it was a luxury, but that is how he would really know when he took his writing career seriously.

It's funny, last week I found myself answering to the old question "What do you want to be when you grow up?" An essayist. In the David Sedaris vein. How interesting. The answer came out of my mouth before I even had a chance to think about it. I am hoping that this blog will be answer to both the writing everyday thing to get me back in the groove and to practice writing essays or at least the beginnings of them. In any case, its been since graduate school, when I could write a 30 page paper in a weekend that I took writing anything seriously. Even in my work, I am only required to write snippets and diaglogs. The few white papers I have written have been like pulling teeth to get them done. Its just when you get out of the habit...

So back into the habit I go...Let's see what happens.
